Somaliland: President Muse Bihi Receives The Saudi Arabian Ambassador.
The Somaliland President, Muse Bihi Abdi, received the Saudi Arabian Ambassador, Dr. Mohammed Abdi-Qani Khayat in Hargeisa on Thursday.
Dr. Khayat, who is the Saudi ambassador accredited to the neighbouring country of Somalia is on an official visit to Somaliland to discuss with administration areas of mutual interest, including Saudi support for efforts to alleviate the drought facing parts of Somaliland, the resolution on the issue of Somaliland livestock exports to Saudi Arabia, the conflict in Yemen and the general security in the region.
The Saudi ambassador, Dr. Khayat, is expected to meet with senior Somaliland officials during his stay in the country to discuss investment, trade, endowments, the Hajj pilgrimage program and other areas of co-operation.
Somaliland has been in the Saudi Arabian/United Arab Emirates corner with regard to the Arabian Peninsula political manoeuvres between Qatar and other GCC countries.
Saudi Arabia does not, as of yet, have a diplomatic or consular presence in Somaliland.
The Somaliland minister of Finance and the deputy Foreign minister attended the meeting.
