Raqqa: unveiling an immersive experience

A few months ago we started an in-depth investigation into civilian deaths in Raqqa, asking some of our supporters to help track the destruction caused by the US-led coalition.
The Strike Tracker mission aimed to establish precisely when and where strikes destroyed buildings in Raqqa, and to map out the apocalyptic destruction caused by the Coalition.
The mission has now been completed. Together, thousands of our supporters helped analyse over 11,000 damaged features and sort through 2 million images. Put together as a standard movie, this would be over 23 hours of footage!
With your help, we have narrowed down the time window for when many buildings were damaged in Raqqa, Syria, from several months to a few days.
Now, this data is being combined with on-the-ground research to bring you a free, interactive exhibition –  War in Raqqa: Rhetoric versus Reality.
Hosted by the Architectural Association School of Architecture, the exhibition explores how the so called “most precise air campaign in history” actually left Raqqa as the most destroyed city in modern times.
If you’re in London between 25 April and 30 May, make sure you head down to Bedford Square and check out our interactive exhibition on Raqqa.
Join us for a free, immersive experience and watch footage filmed by our investigators travelling through the city and hear first-hand accounts from survivors and their families.
Hope to see you there,
