In Life, Attitude Is Everything

Sometimes life does not look like the way we’d want it. And it hurts. Human beings have had that experiences. But what about when things never change and we continue to wallow in or dwell on life that does pan out the way we plan it to be? Our life becomes boring, isn’t it?
In life, attitude is everything; it is what shapes our actions and desires. We can choose to live the life we want, no matter how hard it can get. Hardships always occur throughout our life, but it is up to us how to interpret them. It is a matter of what we do well and what we do not.
There are conditions of life that changes of nature have placed us and others that choices of  human behaviour has made. For instances, what actually causes hunger? How did we learn to lie? Hunger is a condition but not a choice. Lying is not a condition but a choice. How can we deal with our choices and conditions?
The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, emotions, and desires to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain or pleasure to, we can instantly change our behaviour.
This singles out the fact that attitude is what governs the way we perceive the world and the way the world perceives us. This means that it is not what happens to us that matters, but it is how we choose to respond.
What drives human response? Can humans act without a thought? A thought is sown in the mind before it is reaped in the field of action. We must paint the vision of where we are going to or what we are intending to do.
The idea that ambition is what gets people started, attitude what determines how people do things, ability what determines what people can do, and skill what determines how well people get the things done, is no longer applicable today.
As times have changed so have our attitudes toward crime and punishment. Crime once considered evil is now, if it is fortunate and successful, called virtue. Evil is what is morally wrong or wicked, while virtue is a behaviour or attitude that shows high moral standards.
A crime is a crime regardless of what form it comes and who commits it. A crime is an immoral act stemming from evil characters. A crime does not only involve killings. There are crimes that involve treason, robbery and rape.
Thus a crime is an action that is deemed injurious to the public welfare or morals or to the interests of the state. Abuse of a public or private office for personal gains is a crime.
And so corruption is a crime. Theft is a crime. Softening the severity of the law not by pity but by bribe is a crime. Politics based on denials is a crime.
The point in which we stand in this age is that what we say, what we do and how we deal and treat with each other is not judged from the religious point of view.
How do we as Somalilanders combat crimes? How are we defined when we are in a public office and no one is looking at us? Are we accountable for what we do and how we do it? Do we believe what we preach or fulfill what we promise to do? How our attitudes affect our social life? Do we try to acknowledge situations, correct our mistakes, learn from the past and move forward? Are we really ready to replace what works well with what did not work well in  the past and the present time? Do we control our mentality with or without emotions when it comes to national issues?
What do you do when you have nothing? How are you defined at this point in history? Do you get irritated and agitated? How patiently can you wait for that which you need?  Can you  believe that you are probably more than you could be if you would have spent more time doing than less time resting?
Your answers to above questions depend on your own personality. But what is personality? We are in an organization age. And your personality is how you organize your principles that guide and drive you whenever you intend to make plans in social life.
